Marvel’s Future Avengers Series Is Streaming Free On YouTube

An underseen Avengers TV show is about to be completely free to watch. Marvel hs announced that the anime series Marvel’s Future Avengers is going to be released in its entirety on YouTube. The show was originally released in Japan. Later, it was brought to the U.S. on Disney+ shortly after the service launched. Now, Disney and Marvel are making it easier to watch than ever before.

The announcement was made as part of the 60th anniversary celebration of The Avengers in Marvel Comics. The first episode, titled Destroy the Avengers/Aim for the Avengers, is now available on the Marvel HQ YouTube channel. Episodes will debut there every Tuesday, culminating in the first of what Marvel bills as many livestream watch events on Tuesday, October 24. All 39 episodes of the two-season series will be made available by summer 2024. Future Avengers-related merchandise is also said to be coming to retailers for the holiday season and into 2024.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel’s Future Avengers.

“Marvel’s Future Avengers follows a group of kids learning that they’ve grown up under Hydra’s control, and how they break free and team up with the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Wasp!  The series follows Makoto and his friends as they train under Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as apprentices, dubbing themselves the ‘Future Avengers.’”

This is an admittedly unique strategy for releasing a show. In the age of streaming, studios have tried very hard to make shows exclusive somewhere to get people to pay to watch them. But a show like this can run the risk of getting lost in the shuffle on Disney+. Releashing it for free on YouTube this way does open it up to a new audience. Even if they don’t make a ton of money on ads or what have you, it does open up the potential for merchandise sales with a show that is already a handful of years old. If this works, it’s possible it could happen for other shows in the future. The week-to-week release strategy also makes it feel a bit more like an event as well, like old-school TV.

Marvel’s Future Avengers episode 1 is streaming now on YouTube. Look for new episodes every Tuesday on the Marvel HQ YouTube channel.
