All good things must eventually come to an end. Such is the case with The Boys and the end for this beloved show is nearly upon us. It was confirmed last year that season 5 of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series would be its last. Now, showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed that filming has officially wrapped on the last batch of episodes.
Taking to Instagram, Kripke shared a photo of himself standing on the empty set below a mural of Homelander. He then proceeded to wax poetically about his time working on The Boys, which is based on the comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Here’s what he had to say.
“This is the last time I’ll ever be on this set. It’ll be torn down soon. It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude. We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you’re lucky. We got all of them. To #TheBoys family: thank you, I love you all. To the fans: thanks for watching, can’t wait for you to see the grand finale. That’s a wrap.”

“Honestly, f*** ‘don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.’ The tears have begun. the posts are incoming,” Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight on the show, said on Instagram. “I said goodbye to most of my work family today and I’ll be ready to smile about it when I’m ready to smile about it. to my Boys fam: love you, c*nts. Forever.”
Even though The Boys is ending, the franchise figures to continue. Season 2 of the spin-off Gen V is set to arrive later this year on Prime Video. Beyond that, Amazon has at least one more spin-off series in the works. It might end up being like AMC’s The Walking Dead universe. Even though the main show will end, the universe can sustain itself for years to come.
The cast for the series includes Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), Antony Starr (Homelander), Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk), Chace Crawford (The Deep), Tomer Capone (Frenchie), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko Miyashiro), Colby Minifie (Ashley Barrett), Claudia Doumit (Victoria Neuman), and Cameron Crovetti (Ryan).
The Boys season 5 is expected to arrive in 2026.
