Avengers: Infinity War Directors Explain The Defenders’ Absence!

Russo Brothers explain why they left The Defenders out of Avengers: Infinity War

A host of Marvel Studios’ big-screen superheroess are expected to appear in the  upcoming April 27 release. However, it looks as though the same can’t be said of the characters from their television series, although they’re also considered members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Knowing that a portion of the plot will probably take place in New York City, many felt that the movie should have at least included The Defenders, who live there.

The Russos told Premiere, that they’d considered attempting such a crossover, but they were already juggling too many characters to make room for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

Including them would also involve working in collaboration with both showrunners and movie directors. According to the Russo Brothers, pulling that off would be virtually impossible (via Heroic Hollywood):

We have considered everything. But the trick is that we already have at least sixty characters with whom we must tell a story! And it's hard enough to communicate with Taika Waititi, Ryan Coogler, Scott Derrickson, Peyton Reed, Jon Watts, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, and James Gunn, all at the same time, not to add all the showrunners and TV crews to this. The latter are also led by totally different people. So it's practically impossible. Our job is to focus on the Marvel film world and offer a satisfying climax.

Based on this statement, it’s safe to say that The Avengers and The Defenders won’t share a screen anytime soon
