Magneto

We’ve said that Apocalypse gathers followers by exploiting the mutants’ weaknesses – Storm was an orphan raised on the streets; Angel had to fight in illegal underground clubs; while Psylocke sees the powerful villain as a means to an end (she is the hedonistic member of the group).

As far as Magneto was concerned, the promotional interviews revealed that he went into hiding after the events of Days of Future Past, and that he even found someone to love. The final trailer reveals that it was more than that, since Magneto says that he lost his entire family – we assume that some kids were also involved.

And this opens up a possibility. We do know that this is yet another turning point for the character – if he had been left in peace, he wouldn’t have joined Apocalypse. So the reason he forgot all about his friendship is because his family has died.

But what about Quicksilver? He’s family,too. Can Magneto leave Apocalypse after finding out that he still has a family? It’s pretty predictable, and that’s why it could be disappointing if that happens.

The trailers also suggest that he has evolved his powers even further than before. The scenes of destruction can his doing, since now he can control even the tiniest metal atoms. But there is a particular scene in which he stars, and of which we can make no sense.
