If you thought that this year, who saw the release of the second highest grossing comic book movie of all times, was a great year, then wait until you get a load of 2016, with no less than 7 epic movies set to be released.
Of course, if Sony goes with its plans, we might get even an 8th comic book movie in 2016 - but since they supposedly scratched their plans for the Spider-Man shared universe, we don't really think that this will happen.
First comic book movie of 2016 - 12th of February
By all means, 2016 seems to start with a high note, since the first comic book movie of the year will be Deadpool. The dark horse of the year, nobody would have believed how many followers this particular movie will gather soon after the first pics from the set will be leaked.
And by all means, the one to blame is certainly Ryan Reynolds - hopefully, Deadpool will do more than well at the box office and will pave the way for other R-rated releases.
On the next page, the first of the Big Three!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - 25th of March
Come on - this will be the very first time when the DC Trinity will be on the big screens. You cannot not be excited about this. Sure enough, you may complain about the whole realistic and frowned feel of the movie, but this particular comic book movie has gathered so many stars that it cannot simply fail.
Did you know that even Neil deGrasse Tyson will have a role in it? Maybe it won't be the last - maybe, just maybe, he is actually Silas Stone, just like the rumors say. Batman v Superman - definitely a must.
On the next page, the second in the Big Three!
Captain America: Civil War - 6th of May
The second behemoth of 2016, Captain America: Civil War will see the return of the Russo Brothers, who literally made wonders with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Basically the third Avengers film before Infinity War, this comic book movie will see more superheroes on screen than any other Marvel film - and we aren't even mentioning the villains. So yes, 2016 is up for a great start, whether we consider the movies mentioned before, whether we take Civil War by itself!
On the next page, the last of 2016’s Big Three!
X-Men: Apocalypse - 27th of May
The third comic book movie colossus of 2016 is what might be the last time when we see the X-Men of the Bryan Singer era. In any way, after X-Men: Days of Future Past, we can only believe the director when he says that X-Men: Apocalypse will be the biggest X-Men movie of all times. And seeing that this is the most enduring comic book movie franchise so far, this says a lot.
What will happen after Apocalypse? Who knows and, quite frankly, who cares? Let it all begin!
We should, mention, nonetheless, that we are looking forward for some crossovers… Not just with Fantastic Four and Deadpool, but also with Marvel…
On the next page, the heroic villains vs. the villainous villains!
Suicide Squad - 5th of August
The third comic book movie in the current DC Movie Universe will see the famous Suicide Squad arriving on the big screens. Just like director David Ayer said, it will be like the Dirty Dozen on steroids and with supervillains.
Tons of pics from the set have been leaked online and we can say that we are looking forward to seeing this story of so called redemption - and yes, Margot Robbie is definitely Harley Quinn.
On the next page, the second Fox film of 2016!
Gambit - 7th of October
Gambit won't be the first time when Channing Tatum will appear as the Cajun mutant thief, since he is also scheduled to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. What we can hope is that this X-Men spin-off won't have the same fate as X-Men Origins: Wolverine - hopefully, the movie won't leak online before the special effects are completed and, hopefully, the story will be way better and make much more sense.
On the next page, welcome magic into the MCU!
Doctor Strange - 4th of November
Supposedly the last comic book movie of 2016, Doctor Strange will see the introduction of fresh blood into the MCU.
Sure enough, we've had Vision and the twins in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but Doctor Strange is just the beginning of a new Marvel trilogy. And knowing that Benedict Cumberbatch is the Sorcerer Supreme is, well, just awesome.
Add Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and you already have yet another Marvel recipe for success!
On the last page, the comic book movie that doesn’t matter and that, most likely, won’t be made at all…
Sinister Six
As said, for the moment, there is no word about Sony going ahead with this comic book movie - all those leaks were quite revealing and the fact that Andrew Garfield was sacked from the role of Spider-Man surely makes us wonder.
In any way, with our without Sinister Six, 2016 will be the most epic year for the comic book movie lovers.
