After DC and Warner Bros announced their schedule until 2020, it seemed pretty odd - The Batman didn't appear anywhere on that schedule, in a solo movie film. And how can there be 5 years or so without the Dark Knight returning on the big screens to kick some villainous butt on his own?
So naturally, seeing that the Batman will be portrayed by Ben Affleck, a rumor was sparked: Ben Affleck is known not just for his acting skills, but also for being one of the best directors of the current generation.
Yes, the rumor was that Ben Affleck will direct himself in a Dark Knight movie.
The Batman
And this sounds very, very good to us. If there is something that we have learned from Ben Affleck directed movies, that something is this: his visual style and the tone of his movies are dark and realistic. And this is how we want The Batman. This is how DC is being shaped at this moment.
And, quite honestly, this is the perfect alternative for Marvel's rather comedic cinematic universe.
But let's not digress. Latino Review reports that the solo movie will be titled, well, The Batman, and that will indeed be directed by Ben Affleck - we should take it with a pinch of salt though, since it is still just a rumor.
Writer and release date
According to the same source, The Batman will be written by Chris Terrio (who won an Oscar for writing Argo for Ben Affleck, who wrote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and who is in charge with writing the first two parts of the Justice League).
Furthermore, Latino Review also reports that The Batman will be released in November 2018, the same month when Marvel will release Captain Marvel.
So how does this piece of news suit you? We are more than happy to hear that Ben Affleck will work on a DC project with Chris Terrio, though we are not so certain what to believe about the release date.
