A star-studded cast, one of the best directors who can make art from not-so-pacifist topics, and a plot involving a team of villains going toe to toe with a greater evil - this is the Suicide Squad movie, one of the most anticipated DC flicks in years.

Sure enough, everybody wants to see the Man of Steel clashing with the Dark Knight - but, at the same time, a movie about relatively unknown baddies has so much more appeal, especially if we take into account the already released footage. And given the grittiness of the newly-formed DC Expanded Universe, the hype can only go upwards.

Talking about this hype, producer Charles Roven also revealed the rating. And it is a bit surprising, for some of us, given the details mentioned in the beginning of this piece. According to him, Suicide Squad will be PG-13 - definitely PG-13, as he says it. However, there is a twist in here, since the producer also takes into account the creative aspect of being in the movie industry.

So it will be, most likely, on the edge of this rating - but still PG-13.

And in here we are hitting the same problem we saw with most of the superhero flicks of the recent years: tampering with the creativity in order to maximize the profits. For example, when you have a psychotic Joker running around, you expect for him to resort to all sorts of heinous acts. And you can't do that in a manner which will allow children in the cinema - or, at least, we cannot think of one. Just compare Jokers—look at the comics and then look at any of the ones from the big screens and you will get what we mean.

But we don't lose hope, though. Man of Steel was also PG-13 and we had plenty of hardcore action in it, though it was hidden in the smaller details, such as in the GIF below. David Ayer knows that - so even in the trailer we catch some glimpses of how brutal the Joker can be. To what point do we say all this?

When creating art (as the producer refers to it), it is always better to show everything that you want to show and feel no restraint when doing it. Obviously, this is an industry and it is all about the profits - Suicide Squad will be released and, just like many other movies, it won't last for too long in the memory of the fans, so the time in which the studio can make a profit is pretty short.

And we can also add that it is still a movie in a shared universe – so you can’t have it getting out of line. Or…?

In the case of this movie, we can bet that the creative process will be unleashed especially in the background of the background (if we may say so). For the moment, it can't get any better than this - Deadpool might just bring a change though, though its budget (just like the studio’s expectations) isn't as high as with any other superhero movie.
