Patty Jenkins on Steve Trevor's Rumored Return

Thanks to the amazing chemistry between Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, their characters’ relationship was a highlight of the movie. So obviously, everyone wants to see the magic happen again in the sequel, in spite of Steve Trevor’s heroic death as he saved today at the end of the film.

We assume that this is why so many rumors have popped up about Chris Pine’s return in Wonder Woman 2. But is there any truth to the rumors? Could he actually return?

While flashbacks may be possible, a number of fans theorize that the character didn't really die. Director Patty Jenkins addressed one such theory during a recent interview with Elle.

After Trevor crash-landed on Themyscira, a scene took place that may be remembered more for its comedy than anything else. In it, Trevor’s bath was interrupted by Diana Prince, who didn't seem to know what a watch was, or how time was measured.

According to the fan theory, Trevor was bathing in magical waters that were possibly similar to the water in the Lazarus Pit. In the comics, the Lazarus Pit healed injuries and granted immortality to characters that included Batman villain Ra’s al Ghul.

Could this have anything to do with Steve Trevor’s return? Did the magical waters protect him from the explosion?

Jenkins’ take on the theory might disappoint those who buy into it. Check it out below:

Of course, this is just one of many fan theories and rumors about the character's return. If one is debunked, another may be true.

What do you think? Will we see Pine as Steve Trevor when Wonder Woman 2 is released on December 13, 2019?
