Netflix has released a new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon. This is Snyder’s follow-up to his zombie movie Army of the Dead. It’s also the franchise that became of his pitch for a Star Wars movie that never got made. Netflix is very invested in the idea, as two movies are on the way beginning in December. Given that we have two movies coming, this trailer is as epic – and long -as you might expect. Check it out.
There is a ridiculous amount of action and spectacle packed into the footage. Surprisingly, despite the trailer being well over three minutes, we actually don’t dive too much into the specifics of the story. It’s clear that this is a good vs evil tale in a distant galaxy. It’s easy to see how this, at one point, could have been a Star Wars movie. Lots of ships, distant worlds, alien creatures, and big space battles.
Here is the synopsis for Rebel Moon.
“When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”
The massive cast includes Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, E. Duffy, Jena Malone, Sky Yang, Charlotte Maggi and Corey Stoll.
Snyder, who directed Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Justice League, wrote the film alongside Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. Snyder also serves as a producer with Deborah Snyder, Eric Newman and Wesley Coller. Bergen Swanson, Sarah Bowen, Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad are on board as executive producers.
Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire hits Netflix on December 22. Rebel Moon: The Scargive will follow on April 19, 2024.
