Eddie Brock is back in action. Tom Hardy has revealed that Venom 3 has indeed begun filming. While several set photos had leaked online from unofficial sources in recent days, the actor recently took to Instagram to confirm that the Marvel Comics adaptation is in production. Hardy didn’t say much about it, but he did share the below photo. Have a look.

Not much to be gleaned from that photo, admittedly. The important thing is, filming is underway, meaning Venom 3 should be on track for a 2024 release date. No specific date has been hammered down by Sony yet. However, the studio did recently plant flags for release dates on November 8, 2024, and June 27, 2025. These were specifically set aside for Marvel movies, and it’s widely believed that the 2024 date is for the next Venom film.
Kelly Marcel, who wrote the first two films, is on board to direct Venom 3. Plot details are currently being kept tightly under wraps. Ruben Fleischer directed the first Venom, while Andy Serkis stepped in for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. As far as the cast goes, Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) will be joining Hardy in the sequel. Who they will be playing is also being kept under wraps.
The Venom films have been surprisingly successful to date. 2018’s Venom, (which is now streaming on Disney+), despite earning largely negative reviews, earned a hugely impressive $856 million worldwide. 2021’s Let There Be Carnage, which was released while theaters were still very much trying to recover from the pandemic, pulled in $501 million worldwide. Even without the presence of Spider-Man, and without critical support, audiences love what Hardy is selling.
Here’s the synopsis for 2018’s Venom.
“The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?”
Venom 3 does not currently have a release date.
