Here is the official synopsis for The Witcher season 2.
“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
The show proved to be a huge hit for Netflix when it debuted last year. It is now becoming a full-fledged franchise. Not only do we have another season of the main show, but a spin-off has been ordered, in addition to a feature-length animated movie.
Production for the show’s sophomore season was interrupted earlier this year. Like many productions, given the coronavirus pandemic, Netflix had to halt filming on the series for several months. But production is back up and running again. It is expected that season 2 will arrive sometime in 2021.
Cavill is expected to be busy with his commitments on The Witcher for some time. What that means for his status as Superman in the DCEU remains to be seen. We haven’t seen Cavill suit up since Justice League in 2017 but there are persistent reports that he will be returning as the Man of Steel down the line. It just remains unclear how that will happen or when it will happen.
The Witcher season 2 does not yet have a release date set.
