New Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Trailer Officially Released

New Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Trailer Officially Released

Everyone’s favorite teenage DC superhero is back. Warner Bros. has released a brand new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is set to hit theaters in March. It will be the first big blockbuster from DC Studios of 2023, with The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom also on deck for the year. But first up, Billy Batson and the Shazam family are going to have their hands full with a powerful new threat. Check it out.

The trailer is very, very action-packed. Much of the action seems to be taking place during what appears to be the big third-act battle. There are, as one would expect, jokes to go around, but this looks a bit more serious than the first film. Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), Lucy Liu (Kung Fu Panda) and Helen Mirren (F9: The Fast Saga). With Liu and Mirren, in particular, serving as our main villains, the gods unleashing their fury.

Here is the synopsis for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

“Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.”

The original Shazam!, released in 2019, was a big hit both critically and commercially, taking in $366 million at the global box office against a $100 million budget. It was also a huge critical favorite, as it holds a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This was a welcome surprise at the time, as the DC Universe had suffered a mixed bag of hits and misses in its early years.

Zachary Levi (Thor: Ragnarok) as Shazam, Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer (It Chapter Two) as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody (Promising Young Woman) as superhero Freddy, Ross Butler (Raya and the Last Dragon) as superhero Eugene, Meagan Good (Day Shift) as superhero Darla, D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as superhero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey (Annabelle: Creation) as Mary Bromfield, Faithe Herman (This Is Us) as Darla Dudley, Ian Chen (A Dog’s Journey) as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand (Second Chances) as Pedro Pena, Marta Milans (White Lines) as Rosa Vasquez, Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead) as Victor Vasquez and Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place Part II) as Wizard.

The film is directed by David F. Sandberg (Shazam!, Annabelle: Creation) and produced by Peter Safran (Aquaman, The Suicide Squad). Henry Gayden (Shazam!, There’s Someone Inside Your House) and Chris Morgan (Hobbs & Shaw, The Fate of the Furious) penned the screenplay.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on March 17.
