Masters of the Universe: Revelation Teaser Trailer Released by Netflix

Netflix has released the first trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The show will pick up right where He-Man left off in the 80s. Headed up by executive producer Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) the series was previewed during Netflix’s Geeked Week. Have a look.

The footage doesn’t dive too far into the plot. However, it does offer an excellent overview of the look of the show, as well as the tone. Additionally, there is quite a bit of action. Also, much of the imagery should be familiar to fans. It is all set to the tune of “I Need a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler.

Here is the synopsis for Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

“The war for Eternia culminates in ‘Masters of the Universe: Revelation,’ an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.”

Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Chris Wood as Prince Adam / He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer and Diedrich Bader as King Randor / Trap Jaw headline the cast. It also stars Griffin Newman as Orko, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Alan Oppenheimer as Moss Man, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Justin Long as Roboto, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man and Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man.

Smith is also working with a couple of familiar collaborators. His daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, voices Ileena. Jason Mewes, the Jay to Smith’s Silent Bot, is on board as Stinkor,

Netflix also revealed an aftershow. Titled Revelations: The Masters of the Universe Revelation Aftershow, it will be hosted by Smith. It will consist of one episode for each of the five episodes in the first batch of five coming this summer.

“Everything I’ve ever worked on in like 27 years, this is easily in the top five of my favorite, most satisfying projects,” Smith said in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly. “When I die, they’ll be like, ‘He made Clerks, remember?’ ‘Cause that’s the most memorable thing I think I’ve ever done. I think this has a running shot at being like, ‘He made Clerks and that one cartoon that one time.'”

Masters of the Universe: Revelation arrives July 23 on Netflix.
