The Marvel Zombies Trailer Is Here, Watch It Right Now

Marvel Zombies - Disney+

The first full-length trailer for Marvel Zombies is here. The animated series was first announced by Marvel Studios in 2021. Now, nearly four years later, it’s finally upon us. As this footage reveals, director Bryan Andrews pulled no punches. Right up top, we see that this is going to earn its TV-MA rating. If it were a movie, it would certainly be R-rated. Check it out for yourselves below.

There is much to discuss. We see quite a bit of Blade in the trailer, which is a big deal. Mahershala Ali has still yet to play the character in a movie after six years developing the project. For now, this will have to do. We also see that most of the main Avengers are now zombies, much like Robert Kirkman’s original comic book series. But the story has been adjusted to suit the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We see everything from a zombie Scarlet Witch to a zombie Thanos.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel Zombies.

“After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.”

The miniseries consists of four episodes. It was originally set to debut in October. However, the release date was recently moved up to late September. It was also originally conceived as a movie before being turned into a series. That’s probably why fans will be able to binge the whole thing once it drops, rather than doing a weekly release model.

The cast includes MCU veterans Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Awkwafina (Katy), Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Randall Park (Jimmy Woo), Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel) and Dominique Thorne (Ironheart).

Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells created the series. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Andrews and Wells serve as executive producers. Danielle Costa and Carrie Wassenaar are on board as producers.

In the future, Marvel Studios will be ramping down its Disney+ output. Next year will see the release of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and X-Men ‘97 season 2. The days of having four or more live-action MCU shows airing on the streaming service in a single year appear to be behind us. Marvel Studios wants to shift focus back to a quality over quantity approach.

Marvel Zombies premieres on Disney+ on September 24.
