Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Is the Most-Acclaimed In the Show’s History

Sixth time’s the charm, or so seems to be the case with Fear the Walking Dead. AMC is in the middle of airing the sixth season of the spin-off series. Season 5, per the general consensus, was a rough ride. However, season 6 has recovered in a big way, currently ranking as the highest-rated season on Rotten Tomatoes

As of this writing, Fear the Walking Dead season 6 holds an 86 percent critical approval rating on the review aggregation site. The season also holds an equally solid 85 percent audience rating. That is in stark contrast to season 5, which currently holds a 55 percent critical rating. The audience rating, in this case, is even lower at 43 percent. That makes for a huge improvement season-to-season.

This is made all the more impressive by the fact that production was interrupted by the pandemic. Filming was forced to shut down for months as Hollywood grappled with the crisis. But the team behind the show managed to get the train back on the tracks. Seemingly, with better results than anyone could have hoped for.

Here is the synopsis for Fear the Walking Dead season 6.

After being torn apart by Virginia and her Pioneers, the group is now dispersed across her far-reaching settlements. Life behind Virginia’s walls will test each and every one of them in different ways, forcing them to define who they are in this new world.”

The series cast includes. Alycia Debnam-Casey, Maggie Grace, Alexa Nisenson, Lorenzo James Henrie, Ruben Blades, Austin Amelio, Karen David, Patricia Reyes Spindola, Sam Underwood, Dayton Callie, Jenna Elfman and Lennie James.

This is good news for AMC as the network is looking to expand the scope of The Walking Dead universe in the coming years. The main season will end with season 11 in 2022. But a spin-off has already been announced that will center on Daryl and Carol. An anthology series titled Tales from the Walking Dead is in the works as well. Fear the Walking Dead, additionally, has been renewed for a seventh season.

Aside from that, The Walking Dead: World Beyond is currently airing its first season. The show will be a two-season limited series. Andrew Licnold is also scheduled to reprise his role as Rick Grimes in a trilogy of Walking Dead movies. Though progress on the first installment has seemingly been slow moving.

Fear the Walking Dead season 6 airs Sundays on AMC.
