Thanos
You might think that Thanos’ appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will come exclusively in the Avengers: Infinity War movies from this point on, but why should that be the case? Sure, he’s not going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but there’s no reason he couldn’t actually be the villain in Captain Marvel.
Carol Danvers’ solo movie comes in between the two Infinity War offerings and, given that Thanos is likely to have already taken out a team of Avengers by that point, someone will have to step in to confront him.
Step forward Captain Marvel. Perhaps she could use her powers to keep the Mad Titan busy while Earth waits for more backup – perhaps in the form of a second team of Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy – displaying her own might and establishing herself as a key player going forward in the MCU in the process.
