Netflix has released a brand new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. This is the second chapter of Snyder’s massive sci-fi epic. It follows in the footsteps of Part One – A Child of Fire, which debuted at the end of last year. Now, Kora is back for more in what looks to be an action-packed sequel. Check it out.
This is more detailed than the previous teaser trailer that was released at the end of last year. We get a much better sense of the story at hand, as well as the action. Snyder originally envisioned this as a Star Wars movie. The footage here makes the influence of that franchise crystal clear. The whole thing is set to a unique version of the song “Cochise” by Audioslave.
Here is the synopsis for Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.
“Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.”
The cast includes Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Anthony Hopkins, Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Sky Yang, Charlotte Maggi and Justice League’s Ray Fisher.
Rebel Moon – Part One wasn’t received particularly well by critics or audiences. It currently holds a very poor 21% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Whether or not Snyder is able to course correct with the second chapter remains to be seen. The Man of Steel filmmaker is also working on R-rated extended cuts of both films. Sndyer’s director’s cuts are often favored by his fans, so those could do a lot to turn the tide as well. Those are expected to debut on Netflix later this year.
Snyder penned the screenplay alongside Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. He also serves as a producer on the film alongside Deborah Snyder, Eric Newman and Wesley Coller. Bergen Swanson, Sarah Bowen, Hatten and Johnstad are on board as executive producers.
Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver arrives on Netflix on April 19.
