Spider-Man: No Way Home Sets Digital Sales Record

Spider-Man: No Way Home has set a new record for digital sales in its first week of release. According to Deadline, the blockbuster Marvel comics adaptation sold more than 2.1 million copies in its first week of release through digital retailers. The film was made available to purchase and/or rent on March 15. It its first week, it set a new record for the industry.

The outlet reports that the movie earned around $42 million worth of revenue in that first week, given that the sale price is around $20. That adds even more profit for Sony and Marvel Studios, as the movie is nearing $1.9 billion at the global box office. It is already one of the highest-grossing movies in history. Now it’s going to continue to rake it in on home video, it seems. Let us not forget that the Blu-ray release is also set for early April as well.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

Vudu also reported that No Way Home was the top-selling pre-order title of all time for the retailer. It topped Vudu’s charts for a second week in a rwo from March 21 to March 27. It topped other popular recent releases such as Dog, Sing 2, The Cursed, and Blacklight. While that is just one retailer it demonstrates that the film is showing no signs of slowing down.

Jon Watts directed the movie, working from a script by Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers. Tom Holland reprised his role as Peter Parker, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield also returning as their respective versions of the character. Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina also star.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits Blu-ray and DVD on April 12.
