Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie Trailer Released By Netflix

Heads up, TMNT fans! Netflix has released the first trailer for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie. As the name implies, the upcoming animated film is set in the same universe as the Nickelodeon show of the same name. Now, the streaming service has partnered with Nick to continue the series in the form of a feature-length animated movie. Check it out.

The series originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2018 to 2020. The show only lasted two seasons and 39 episodes but made its impact with fans all the same. That makes this animated movie all the more welcome as it may well provide fans with some closure. Netflix has similarly continued beloved Nick animated shows with movies after the fact. Both Rocko’s Modern Life and Invader Zim got wrap-up films on the streaming service as well. Now, the heroes in a half-shell are getting their moment.

Here is the synopsis for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.

“Continuing the tale from the hit Nickelodeon series, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello are back in action and up to their teenage antics in this comedic adventure that raises the stakes higher than ever before. The Turtles are put to the test when a mysterious stranger named Casey Jones arrives from the future to warn the mutant brothers of an impending invasion·of the most dangerous alien force in the galaxy – the Krang! Can the team rise up to become the heroes they are destined to be, or will their teenage foibles get the better of them? What unfolds is the most adventurous, emotional, and epic story ever told of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

The movie is being directed by Ant Ward and Andy Suriano, with Tony Gama-Lobo and Rebecca May penning the screenplay. The other good news is that much of the original cast is returning. The cast includes Ben Schwartz, Omar Miller, Brandon Mychal Smith, Josh Brener, Kat Graham, Eric Bauza, Haley Joel Osment, Rhys Darby and John Michael Higgins.

Meanwhile, several other TMNT projects are currently in the works as well. For one, Seth Rogen is working on a new animated feature for Paramount, and it will go to theaters. Also, the video game Shredder’s Revenge was recently released. Plus, there are still plans for a live-action reboot as well. Colin Jost and Casey Jost are said to be penning the screenplay.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie hits Netflix on August 5.
