We all know that, in the end of Captain America: The First Avengers, Red Skull kind of died due to Tesseract reasons. Then, we all know that after the movie premiered Hugo Weaving said that he isn't interested in returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - it was not that he didn't enjoy the experience, it was just the fact that it wasn't what he needed.
Some actors change their mind"¦
and that is why, just a couple of days ago, a rumor appeared saying that Red Skull will be back as the head of HYDRA in Captain America: Civil War. This return is one that was asked by many fans, since the character didn't receive a proper send off, him being the most iconic villain in the Captain America rogues gallery.
Of course, Hugo Weaving swiftly said that he doesn't know anything about such a return: “I have absolutely no idea. I haven’t talked to anyone about it, so yeah, we’ll just have to wait and see. No idea at all.”
So, as a conclusion"¦
Of course, the first answer of the actor wasn't a definitive one - after all, it avoided answering the question. And since he revealed in 2012 that he signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel"¦
So, yesterday, the actor said that he sticks to what he said after his first outing as Red Skull - he isn't interested in returning. However, if the project feels right"¦ Well, what do you know? Isn't this something all actors say when they want to be seduced by a studio?
Check it out: “You never know what might or might not happen. But my views have not really changed. I certainly have not had any conversations with anyone about that. No change at all on that landscape. I was talking to you about another Matrix, and I doubt that would happen. But there are always circumstances. Certain circumstances do change, and there is always a good reason to revisit or reinvestigate something. It may not be worth following, but it is always good to keep your options open and your mind open. Having said all of that, I have not really changed my opinion about not wanting to do another Captain America. It was fun to do. It was a very great thing to do in many ways, but I suppose my focus is more likely to be elsewhere, but who knows.”
What is our honest opinion?
If we may say so, Hugo Weaving is pulling a Paul Rudd as far as Red Skull in concerned - there is something which tells us that this character's story in the MCU is far from being over.
Captain America: Civil War arrives on the 6th of May 2016 - so the studio has plenty of time to consider the return of the Red Skull.
