PSA: Morbius Is Now Available To Watch At Home

For those who skipped out on seeing Morbius in theaters, the time has come to see the Marvel film at home. Sony Pictures has released the movie via digital, either as a rental or purchase, as of May 17, meaning you can now see all of the vampire action from the comfort of home. And, given that the movie didn’t perform particularly well at the box office, it seems quite a few people out there have yet to see what Jared Leto brought to The Living Vampire.

As for those who are perhaps waiting for a physical copy of the movie, fear not. Morbius will also be making its way to Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD in a few weeks on June 14. But for those who merely want to settle some curiosity, it’s now available through most digital retailers. It’s a little unclear as to when it will be streaming on a major streaming service, but that likely won’t be for at least a few months.

Here is the synopsis for Morbius.

“One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Sony gave the green light to Morbius shortly after the success of 2018’s Venom. The movie was delayed several times due to the pandemic and retooled quite a bit behind the scenes. Unfortunately, that didn’t result in a better movie in the eyes of critics. It currently holds a mere 16% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Though the audience rating is much better at 71%. As for the box office, it currently sits at $163 million worldwide, which is far less than most superhero movies make. It’s likely not at all what Sony had in mind, even if the budget was said to be just $75 million.

Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson and Al Madrigal also star. Daniel Espinosa directed the movie working from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster serve as producers, with Leto, Louise Rosner and Emma Ludbrook on board as executive producers.

Morbius is now available on Digital.
