Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer Has Arrived

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Marvel Studios

It’s here! Marvel has released the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This is the long-awaited reboot of Marvel’s first family within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Originally titled simply The Fantastic Four with the subtitle added later, it’s directed by Matt Shakman, of WandaVision fame. So, how did he do? It looks like he’s taking us back in time for a wild, cosmic ride. Check it out.

The film is led by The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Mission: Impossible star Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch). Ralph Ineson (Willow, Nosferatu) is also on board to play Galactus, with Julia Garner (Wolf Man) playing Silver Surfer. John Malkovich (Red) and Paul Walter Hauser (Cruella) rounding out the main ensemble.

Here is the synopsis for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”

It will be a big year for Marvel Studios overall. Aside from this, the studio also has Thunderbolts coming down the pipeline. That movie serves as the conclusion of Phase 5 of the MCU. Then, it’s onto the big guns as Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will hit theaters in 2026 and 2027, respectively. What lies beyond that? That’s the big question. We know there is an X-Men reboot in the works. We don’t quite know how those characters will factor in, or what the MCU will even look like when they arrive.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige produces the film, with Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis and Tim Lewis on board as executive producers. Michael Giacchino (Werewolf by Night) is composing the score.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
