A number of stars from previous X-Men movies have flocked together in Montreal for the production of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which marks Simon Kinberg's directorial debut. The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Evan Peters and franchise newcomer Lamar Johnson will join them.
Peters, who portrayed Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse, is set to play the character in Dark Phoenix. Of course, the mutant speedster wasn't a part of Marvel Comics' Dark Phoenix Saga, nor did he show up in X-Men: The Last Stand, Brett Ratner’s adaptation of the storyline. But considering how well-received Peters' character was in the previous movies, it makes sense that Kinberg wanted to use him in the November 2, 2018 release.
The outlet also revealed that Lamar Johnson, who appeared in Canadian teen drama The Next Step, has also sealed a deal with 20th Century Fox to star in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Sadly, the character is being kept under wraps.
In addition to Peters and Johnson, the cast roster includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Dark Phoenix, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. Fox is reportedly looking for an actress to portray Dazzler, and Jessica Chastain is in negotiations for the villainous role of Shi'ar Empress Lilandra.
James McAvoy shared a new group shot on Instagram that not only features the movie’s director and cast members, but also Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Check it out below!
