Many have said that a Venom movie just won’t be possible without Spider-Man, but we have some good news for them: A recent rumor suggested that the webslinger will appear after all.
During an appearance on the latest episode of Collider Movie Talk, Jon Schnepp claimed that "little bird" had told him that Spider-Man will show up in the Ruben Fleischer flick. The little bird also told him that Tom Holland was going to reprise his Spider-Man role in Venom:
I’m gonna say it right here on this show, Spider-Man is gonna be in Venom. For the last couple of months, we’ve been talking about Venom, we’ve been hearing about how Sony’s keeping it all separated. Spider-Man’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man Universe is separate. Like a cameo, like a who-knows-what-eo…all I’m sayin’ is Spider-Man – and I’m talkin’ about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man – is gonna be in Venom.
When asked whether Peter Parker would directly figure in the movie or just pop up in a post-credits scene, Schnepp replied that he "really couldn't answer that question at this time".
He did shed a little more light on the matter in a follow-up video in which he clarified that the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole wouldn’t be "involved in any way, shape or form" in the Venom project, Silver and Black, or any other planned Sony Spider-Verse project. However, Tom Holland's superhero will "definitely be involved in all of those films".
Schnepp added that the 21-year-old Holland has already spent "two complete days" on the Venom set. But since Schnepp wasn't actually present at the time, he was unable to confirm whether Holland was filming scenes or just hanging out.
Keep in mind that this is all rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. It appears to be too complicated to pull off, but it might actually make sense. Think back to June 2017, and Amy Pascal's remarks that led to those "Confused Kevin Feige" memes, this one in particular:
