Tommy Flanagan, best known for his role in Sons of Anarchy, was announced for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II. The news comes from Variety, which confirms a rumor, first heard at Heroic Hollywood, saying that the Scottish actor will appear in the sequel in an undisclosed role.
Thus, Tommy Flanagan will join the returning cast of Guardians of the Galaxy (Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, and all the others), as well as the newcomers already officially announced. Among them, we now know that Kurt Russell will portray Star Lord's father, while Pom Klementieff will play Mantis, one of the newest Guardians.
While the name of the character Tommy Flanagan will portray remains unknown, Heroic Hollywood gives us a few hints about the role he will have. Thus, according to the website, the actor will portray Yondu's right hand man. This doesn't mean that Tommy Flanagan will be anything more than just a Ravager. To be noted, Sean Gunn also portrayed one and he was still just a glorified extra.
According to the same website, the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II will revolve around Rocket Raccoon, who will find himself on the run, with a bounty on his head. Apparently, the Ravagers will be interested in this bounty, and will try to catch the furry, talking creature. At the same time, we can also note that James Gunn has already said that this sequel will be all about the father-son relationship.
Last Wednesday, principal photography for the movie started at the Pinewood Studios, in Atlanta. Also last Wednesday, James Gunn released a first look at the team - quite surprisingly, on Drax's shoulder sat Baby Groot.
