Launching brief teasers or posters just ahead of superhero movie trailers has recently become a trend for the studios. However, Marvel Studios has deviated from the trend by releasing the first Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer with no prior announcement. It runs for under two minutes, but there's no shortage of excitement!
Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder was carrying two swords instead of his Mjolnir in the previously released promotional photos. If you’re wondering why, the teaser trailer has your answer: Cate Blanchett's Hela shatters Thor's mighty hammer into pieces. And that's just a sample of her power. A few shots later, the Goddess of Death declares, "Asgard is dead." She then proceeds to wreak havoc on Thor's homeland.
Thor: Ragnarok is a Taika Waititi-directed Marvel movie, so there have to be some fun moments, no matter how grim its plot is. The Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer shows some of these moments, the best of which involves Thor facing his "friend from work", Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, in the gladiatorial arena of Sakaar. Interestingly, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is sitting right next to Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) during the match between Thor and Hulk.
Earlier, we saw photos of Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, Blanchett's Hela, and Goldblum's Grandmaster. However, we didn’t see Skurge the Executioner (Karl Urban). Fortunately, he’s featured in the first Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer, and the character’s appearance is true to the comic books. The teaser trailer also shows Loki wearing a shiny new gold headdress and Idris Elba's Heimdall sporting long locks for the first time. Check it out below!
