Once Taika Waititi started as director of Thor’s final solo flick, he let the fans in on what direction the movie would take by revealing Thor’s activities during the Civil War. Thor may not have wanted to show it, but his frustration was more than obvious. Any team lucky enough to have him would certainly have won. Right?
Apparently, that was actually an accurate version of the MCU’s Thor, since he forms his own team in the latest Thor: Ragnarok promotional clip. What’s the team's name? Well, since The Avengers was already taken"¦Check it out below!
Yes, that was Surtur!
Lastly, we have some news about the film’s main antagonist, Hela, the Goddess of Death. Executive producer Brad Winderbaum explained that she’s actually a combination of the comics’ Hela and Gorr the God Butcher, a supervillain who wields a weapon called All-Black the Necrosword that can manifest an infinite number of other weapons:
A lot of the design of Hela is a combination of the early Jack Kirby stuff, but also…the villain Gorr, who has a very specific power set of being able to manifest an infinite number of weapons. We are doing a version of that – not exactly, but a version of that – for Hela in our movie, because in the books, Hela can kind of touch people and they die, and sometimes she can do all sorts of different things. We really tried to specify and narrow it into very specific skill sets (CBM).
In the comic books, the sword is capable of killing gods. This would be pretty useful, especially since the Goddess of Death will go up against the God of Thunder. Of course, this takes nothing away from Hela’s awesomeness. It actually enhances it.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
