Storm isn't a new character in the 20th Century Fox Mutant Universe, but she is being portrayed by a new actress in X-Men: Apocalypse. Alexandra Shipp, star of House of Anubis and Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, is playing the younger Storm, a part played by Halle Berry in previous X-Men movies. And it is highly likely that Shipp will reprise the role in more movies.
In a recent interview with IGN, the actress expressed her desire to appear in the upcoming X-Men spinoff flick New Mutants. Here's what she says:
I can’t say very much about New Mutants, but it would be awesome to do a little cameo – a little Where’s Waldo?, Where’s Ororo? – in the background.
And it's not just New Mutants where Alexandra Shipp wants to portray Storm. She'd love to appear in as many X-Men movies as possible. Stating that she loves the character, the actress adds:
I’d love to reprise her in many different movies, and be able to show people different sides of her, because she is so multidimensional, and I think that the people who love Storm at least as much as I do really want to see that. We want to see Storm killin’ it and kickin’ ass.
Shipp concludes by saying that the best thing about Storm is "how amazing and powerful" she is. Recently, she wished for a Black Panther and Storm crossover, which seems quite unlikely to happen in near future.
Recently, X-Men film series spearhead Simon Kinberg claimed that we will see "some familiar faces" in New Mutants. Then we came across a rumor suggesting that Alexandra Shipp's character will be featured in the movie.
But afterward, when director Josh Boone teased the movie's roster, Storm wasn’t included. However, that doesn't necessarily exclude the chances of Shipp's appearance. Don’t forget the other two characters mentioned in the same rumor have been confirmed. The actress might eventually get at least a cameo in the movie.
