X-Men spin-off New Mutants to feature some familiar faces, says Simon Kinberg!

Josh Boone's New Mutants is one of the X-Men spin-off movies that will arrive in a few years. The Fault in Our Stars director along with his writing partner Knate Gwaltney is working on the movie's script. And Simon Kinberg thinks they are "doing a really good job". That's what he has said while speaking to IGN recently.

According to the writer/producer, New Mutants may not be as different as Deadpool was from the mainline X-Men movies, but it's "a really cool one" and has its "own unique, original voice to it". Kinberg adds:

That’s the fun for me, working in the X-Men universe, creating these sort of standalone movies that have a different vibe to them. And New Mutants has more of a YA [Young Adult] vibe to it.

He states that there is "a long, long list of names" from the comic books that might appear in the movie and admits that even he isn't familiar with some of them. However, he thinks that there will some characters in New Mutants that we've seen before in 20th Century Fox's X-Men Universe. Here's what he says:

Traditionally, the New Mutants have some characters that cross over from the mainline X-Men movies. As we are going, I would say it’s likely that you will see some familiar faces.

X-Men: Apocalypse has been described by the director Bryan Singer a number of times as the end of a natural prequel trilogy that started with X-Men: First Class. And with this movie, the contracts of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult for their mutant roles end.

This must make Lawrence feel good as she had been found several times complaining about the blue paint costume of Mystique. And she's also said that the May 27, 2016 release is the last one for her in this franchise. But it seems like she's changed her mind!

In a recent interview with Empire, the second-youngest Best Actress Oscar winner surprisingly reveals her eagerness to return for more X-Men movies. She states:

I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it's not on anyone's shoulders.

But are dying to see her in more X-Men movies? Share via comments!
