A Spider-Gwen movie could boost the Spider-Man franchise
It was suggested here that one possible way for the MCU to rehabilitate the Spider-Man franchise was to begin by developing a web slinger with no love interest.
Sony’s Peter Parker either had Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) or Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) to carry a torch for. One way for Marvel to make him different would be to exactly cut romance out.
But that doesn’t mean to leave the characters behind. Gwen Stacy in this case. Developing a story of her own in a Spider-Gwen movie would be an attempt to create a Spider-centric universe by first defining the pieces and then putting them together.
Kind of the same way they did with Iron-Man, Thor and Captain America which eventually converged in The Avengers.
