In March 19, 2019, Captain Marvel will debut on theaters as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first female superhero standalone installment. Already a number of actresses have expressed their interest to play Carol Danvers - including The Art of the Steal star Katheryn Winnick, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Holland and more recently, Furious 7 star Ronda Rousey. Now, we have another name to add to the list!
And the name is Olivia Wilde! It all started on the social networking site Twitter last week when a fan asked Meadowland director Reed Morano if she be interested to direct Captain Marvel for the MCU with her Meadowland lead star playing the titular role. The director didn't hesitate to reply in affirmative and soon there came a similar response from the actress as well! Let's check out the tweets below!

They Are Really Interested in Captain Marvel!
If you thought Olivia Wilde and Reed Morano were joking when they said they are interested in Captain Marvel, you are terribly WRONG! The actress and the director recently talked to CinemaBlend and not only did they reconfirmed their interest in the 21st installment of the biggest money making film franchise of all time, but also shared some strong thoughts of their own on how the female superhero standalone should be developed!
Let's check out their ideas in the following segment on the following page!
Captain Marvel as Unexpected & Complex as Iron Man!
Olivia Wilde, at first, claimed that she is A BIG FAN of superhero movies and has a lot of RESPECT for the MCU. Then, she added:
"The thing with female superheroes is that, in order to be powerful, they are flawless. The idea of kick-ass power lacks a certain nuance, at times. There is something to be said for a female director working to create a female superhero that perhaps [has] a little more complexity."
Well, Marvel's female superheroes like Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Zoe Saldana's Gamora are complex characters surely and the Rush star did acknowledge that. She praised Marvel Studios for Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man who, according to the actress, has "˜a real, dry sense of humor' along with "˜a complexity to his hero balance'.
But she thinks that even though the female superheroes are written in a way that they have "˜complexity and flaws', they become "˜ultimate goddesses' when they are translated into the movie. She further added:
"I would love to create a female Marvel character who is just as unexpected and complex as some of the male characters as Iron Man. I think that would be really cool!"
Morano, seemed a bit disappointed not getting any call from the studio in spite of fan interest in Twitter. But she hasn't lost her interest to helm Captain Marvel because she would feel NICE to give "˜real history' and "˜a real, tangible background' to the Marvel female superhero. She thinks that the characters that have got ISSUES and are FLAWED individuals are the MOST INTERESTING ones!
