Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters in precisely two weeks. We've had plenty of trailers and TV spots released so far to make a vague idea about what's coming down in the keenly awaited Avengers sequel.
What do fans do when a trailer is released? Well, breaking it down frame by frame is not unheard of. "˜Cause we do look for meaning in the slightest details. But here's one heck of a pickle that has been on our mind since January.
January 12th saw the release of the second trailer for Age of Ultron. And one particular frame grabbed our attention. The mysterious woman in a cave: who is she? What part will she play?
Is she a villain? Is she one of the good guys? Well, hear the answer straight from Kevin Feige.
The mysterious woman won't impact Age of Ultron
CinemaBlend sat with Kevin Feige and picked his brains. And Marvel Studios President revealed something, well, underwhelming.
"That was just the imagery. That was just interesting imagery as part of a dream sequence"¦ It was part of when Thor was looking around at the oddity and the strangeness happening and it was just an image marketing grabbed."
Apparently, Thor's dream is completely inconsequential to Age of Ultron. And the mystery woman, even more so. But surely the bigwigs of Marvel must have thought people would wonder about that frame.
Did they do that on purpose? Did they slot the image in only to grab even more attention (as if Age of Ultron is not already in the limelight)?
Here's Feige's answer:
"Sometimes, not in that case. In that case it was just an arresting image which seemed interesting and when marketing presented it to us, we said, "˜Oh yeah, cool! This is great! Amazing, great work.' And then it started to go out and I thought, "˜People are going to read into all this stuff.'"
Clearly, no Easter Egg here! That should teach us a lesson and discourage us from over-speculating. Though I don't think this was an innocent slip from Marvel.
