Doctor Strange, the movie about the superhero who will play the biggest role in the future phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will arrive in the US at the beginning of November. However, since the worldwide premiere has happened, and since the movie has already been released in other markets, we now know plenty of spoilery things about the film.
So if you want to read spoilers, check out what other character the star of Doctor Strange portrayed in the movie!
As it was revealed at Comic Con, Dormammu makes a brief appearance in Doctor Strange. Will he be the main villain of the MCU after the defeat of Thanos? We don't know. However, director Scott Derrickson revealed who portrayed the ruler of the Dark Dimension in Doctor Strange.
During an interview with IGN, the director revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch was the one to do facial capture for Dormammu, while another English actor provided the voice (the name of the second actor wasn’t revealed):
The voice was a British actor whose name I don’t know, and Benedict - Benedict did the facial capture for it.
According to Scott Derrickson, Benedict Cumberbatch was the one to come up with this idea. So the fact that we don't know the name of the second actor (who provided the voice) doesn't bear any consequences for the future of the character (so it isn't the same case as with Thanos, who ended up being played by Josh Brolin).
We knew it was an all CG character, but as we were in production, Benedict brought it up as an idea. He said, “What would you think about me doing it?” I said, “Let me think about it”, you know. It’s an interesting idea, because I did fancy the idea that as this other-dimensional being, he’s not moving through the Dark Dimension, with a countenance, with eyes and a face, eyes and a mouth, and a human visage - why would he? He takes that form on to communicate with Strange.
