For quite a long time it was believed that Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) was going to be the villain of Doctor Strange. However, as soon as Mads Mikkelsen was announced for a (still) unnamed role, things have changed - after all, the actor is best known for his villainous roles (Casino Royale, Hannibal). And this meant that Mordo will either be a secondary villain or an actual colleague and friend of Doctor Strange.
The pics from the set released over the weekend show Doctor Strange and Mordo running away (or towards) a still unknown threat, which means that they are still fighting on the same side. But, given Mordo's comic book counterpart, we can safely assume that his role in the MCU will, to a certain degree, mimic the one of Loki - an apparent close friend who has a hidden agenda.
Back to Mads Mikkelsen, we still don't know who he is portraying, with most of the rumors saying that he is Dormammu. Well, we can now put those rumors to rest, since the first pictures with him on the set have been released. Obviously, they are not official - however, we can say that we are looking forward more than ever to seeing his performance.

In other news, the shooting for Doctor Strange is now officially over. Director Scott Derrickson made the announcement via Twitter, by holding a copy of the volume Don't Pay the Ferryman. Is this a hint of what we are about to see in the actual movie? We don't know just yet, since the synopsis of the film is as vague as possible.
What do you think? Who is Mads Mikkelsen playing?
Doctor Strange is scheduled for release on the 4th of November.
