The deal that has brought the X-Men and Fantastic Four to Disney and the MCU is almost completed. What seemed like a dream a couple of years ago for comic book movie fans will soon become a reality.
At this moment, we don't know when it will actually happen and when the X-Men and the Fantastic Four will make their MCU entrance. But this deal couldn't come at a better time.
Thanos has just erased half of the universe from existence – and reverting this is a window of opportunity.
Furthermore, both Dark Phoenix and New Mutants have been delayed. While officially something else is said, every fan suspects that the reshoots will usher the X-Men into the MCU.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has acknowledged that there are plans for these new characters to make their way into the shared universe. And that even if these plans haven't been announced just yet.
However, the deal is much bigger than just this. Avatar, Planet of the Apes, Kingsman and so on are all properties Disney will try to further exploit. National Geographic, FX Studios and so on are other properties now owned by the Mouse House.
“20th Century Fox Film is yet another example. It gives us the opportunity to be associated with and to expand iconic movie franchises like Avatar, Marvel’s X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Deadpool, Planet of the Apes, Kingsman, and many others"¦ National Geographic is another tremendous brand built on quality, one that has global reach and cross generational appeal"¦ FX is renowned for great high quality television. Our plan is to provide even more resources to further FX’s existing business.” (via Comic Book)
As said in here, the Marvel characters are just the icing on the cake.
But it is good to know that Disney has already mapped a future for the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all other Marvel characters.
All we need right now is to have patience and wait for the next announcement of an MCU movie slate.
