In addition to bringing back several characters from 2017's original movie, 2018’s Deadpool 2 will introduce new characters Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). But this doesn't necessarily mean shrinking roles for those returning characters including Colossus (Stefan KapiÄić), whose role will actually expand in the sequel.
KapiÄić told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s is a comic book fan, and added that "incredible" things are happening on the movie’s Vancouver set. His signed non-disclosure agreement prevented him from divulging much, but he did have this to say about Colossus:
He didn’t have time at all in the X-Men movies, and he’s one of the iconic characters. He needed that space, and, thank God, [director] Tim Miller and Ryan and Fox decided to give him a spot, which will continue to grow"¦the sequel will answer many questions that people are asking right now. Because all the questions I can see on the net are answered in the sequel.
During the interview, KapiÄić spoke highly of David Leitch, who was brought on as director of Deadpool 2 following Tim Miller’s departure:
The way he is working with me, how to bring more of Colossus is unbelievable. He just relaxes you, and is so intelligent, and is a visionary, which you can see through his movies.
We've already come across some big promises regarding Deadpool 2. Josh Brolin and T.J. Miller suggested in separate interviews that it was funnier than the original movie. We hope that it will live up to expectations when it arrives in theaters on June 1, 2018.
