Josh Brolin Talks about “Emotional” Thanos and Cable Breaking the Fourth Wall!

Josh Brolin talks about Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Cable in Deadpool 2!

Numerous actors have played multiple comic book characters over the years, but we can’t think of anyone who starred as two different characters during a single given year. Until now, that is. Next year, Josh Brolin will appear as Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and as Cable in 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2. During a Good Morning America interview, the 49-year-old actor offered some interesting tidbits on each character.

Thanos' presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been teased since 2012’s The Avengers, but we haven't seen him in action yet. We expect that he’ll wreak havoc on Earth in the upcoming May 4, 2018 release, but he’ll have more to offer than just a display of might. Brolin said that the Mad Titan is a three-dimensional character, and his intellectual and emotional traits would be highlighted in Infinity War:

The thing with Thanos that you don't understand is there's times where it can become psychological and not necessarily brute force"¦He's a smart character. I had no idea, in all truth, I had no idea when I did the teaser (Guardians of the Galaxy), we had like 36 cameras or something and I sat on a seat, and I wasn't working with anybody. And now, like being actually involved, interacting…I want to mention characters, and I can't, but of the characters that are in it, it's way more emotional and way more interactive than I thought. So it's actually a lot of fun, and a lot deeper, a lot more emotional, than I thought.

In last year's Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth poked fun at Green Lantern, a superhero Reynolds portrayed back in 2011. Since Brolin was cast as Cable, many have speculated that similar comments might be made about Thanos in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. The Academy Award nominee doesn't think that will happen, because he hasn’t shot such a scene. But he did suggest that his character would be break the fourth wall. He added that Deadpool 2 is even more humorous than the original:

Do I talk about Thanos in Deadpool? Not yet, not yet, but I may. No, I don't. It's not that I don't break the fourth wall. There's a lot of stuff going on in Deadpool that's very surprising, and it will be very satisfying when you see it. To me, it's even funnier than the first one.
