The recently released first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War finally gave us a glimpse of Thanos’ invasion of Earth. It's certainly been a really long wait since his arrival was first teased in 2012’s The Avengers.
After that initial tease, the Mad Titan had cameos in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Each time he showed up on the screen, he exuded a certain amount of danger. Apparently, the May 4, 2018 release will finally give us a proper look at what he's capable of.
During a video appearance at Brazil's Comic Con Experience 2017 (via Comic Book), Marvel president Kevin Feige promised that Thanos would make our blood run cold within Infinity War’s first five minutes:
You know, we’ve been teasing Thanos since the very first Avengers film. Remember, at the end of Avengers, the very end of the movie, he turns around in the chair, and you realize that something bad is coming. We’ve been teasing him for years, and the trick is that when you tease something for that long, you have to deliver. So, within the first five minutes of Infinity War, people will understand why Thanos is the biggest and baddest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We know that Josh Brolin's big baddie will be surrounded by allies upon his arrival, but the list isn't limited to just the Black Order. Feige said that Loki, as expected, will turn his back on his adoptive brother and the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to join Thanos:
He’s got some company. He’s got some old faces that you’ll recognize. A certain brother of Thor might show up for a while with him, and he has his own team called the Black Order, which is a brand-new selection of villains. But really, Thanos doesn’t need much help. He can pretty much take care of it himself.
From the sound of it, Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief will probably switch allegiances more than once in the upcoming MCU installment. Let's hope he isn't killed the second time around.
