No matter how many pages you spend in trying to set up your theory, it takes only one word from the right person to burn it into ashes! That was true for the theory that suggested Ben Affleck was not playing Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but his character was Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke.
Now it has come true for the individual who suggested that Jared Leto's The Joker in Suicide Squad is actually the former Robin, Jason Todd!
According to that theory, The Joker (the original and old one) kidnapped and tortured Todd so badly that he went insane. At one point he killed the Clown Prince of Crime and decided to take on his mantle. And that new version of The Joker is the one that Jared Leto is portraying in Suicide Squad.
Well, that’s just the summary of it and there was a lot of explanation offered. But bad news for the ones who invested so much of their time in bringing it to life – the theory has been shot down! And the person who has pulled the trigger is none other than David Ayer!
In a recent interview, the director is asked for "the most ridiculous rumor" about Suicide Squad that he has come across. He responds with a grin:
That The Joker is Jason Todd"¦it ain't the case. He's not.
Well, that doesn't mean Jason Todd never existed in the DC Extended Universe. He clearly did, as Warner Bros. has already confirmed that the Robin costume in the Batcave belonged to that particular version of the Boy Wonder. And he might even return as Red Hood, but he isn’t Jared Leto’s character!
During the interview, the Suicide Squad director says that every member of Task Force X has "a story", but Will Smith's Deadshot is "kind of the emotional heart". You can check out the video below, which not only features the director's interview but also those of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jay Hernandez, and Karen Fukuhara.
