[This article contains what you may consider as SPOILERS for Suicide Squad! READERS, YE BE WARNED!]
An official cast list for Suicide Squad that surfaced on web a couple of days ago revealed that there's one other Justice League member – apart from Batman - who makes a cameo appearance in the movie. And that superhero is none other than Ezra Miller's Barry Allen, aka The Flash. The scene in the movie in which he appears also features Jai Courtney's Boomerang.
However, while speaking to Comic Book in New York, the Aussie actor reveals that he had no idea about the Scarlet Speedster's involvement! Neither did it occur to him, nor did the script hint it very strongly. The actor came to know about it only when he saw Suicide Squad himself! Here's what he says:
I didn’t know he was in the movie until I saw the movie! True! It’s funny, because I look back on it and think, “Ya f***in’ moron, of course that’s what was happening!” But even shooting that [scene], it didn’t occur to me. It wasn’t so prescriptive in the script. That was a little gem they were keeping, and rightly so; I understand why they’d want to protect that.
When the official cast list was leaked, many had questions about its authenticity, as it didn't include Ben Affleck. But we have seen his Batman in a number of Suicide Squad trailers and TV spots. However, Jai Courtney's words make it clear that The Flash indeed appears in the upcoming August 5 release.
During the interview, Courtney is asked about whether there's a possibility for his character to make a jump to The Flash standalone movie. In response, he reveals that there’s been no conversation about it, but he doesn't think "there's anything restricting it from happening"! Jai adds:
It’d be dope, though; I’d love to. With these properties, and this world, the potential to kind of cross-contaminate is there everywhere. It would be dope to be part of that. I’d love the opportunity.
