Following the release of Suicide Squad, we learned from Jared Leto that numerous scenes with The Joker didn't make it to the theatrical cut. The actor is clearly frustrated, and has even gone on to use some really harsh words towards Warner Bros.
Margot Robbie may have offered an explanation for why these scenes featuring The Joker were cut from Suicide Squad, but there's one particular scene she hasn't addressed. But Jared Leto doesn't shy away from talking about the scene.
In a recent interview with E! News (via Comic Book), the Academy Award winning actor reveals that he shot a scene for the David Ayer flick in which his version of The Joker was sporting "gold underwear"! And according to Leto, the scene was cut from Suicide Squad, just because of the movie's PG-13 rating!
That surely doesn't sound reasonable, because stripping down to one's underwear isn't enough to put a movie's PG-13 rating at risk. And it seems even more illogical because we've seen Harley Quinn in her undies in Suicide Squad.
When the interviewer exclaims in shock, the 44-year-old actor says, “Ahh, there was a little bit more than that.”
Of course, we have no idea whether we will ever get to see the scene featuring the Clown Prince of Crime in gold underwear, or the other deleted Suicide Squad scenes featuring the character. Jared Leto would surely love it if those scenes saw the light of day.
During an interview with BBC Radio One a few days ago, the actor revealed that he always thought Suicide Squad should be R-rated. He said:
I always wished this film was rated R, and I had actually said that when we were starting. It felt like if a film was ever going to be rated R it should be the one about the villains.
