Harley Quinn is finally making her live-action big screen debut in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, 24 years after her first appearance. She did appear in live-action television shows Birds of Prey and Arrow, but never in a live-action big screen venture. The David Ayer flick will feature Margot Robbie as the character.
After watching all three Suicide Squad trailers, a huge number of fans, including me, are extremely excited about the Aussie actress's portrayal of Harley Quinn. Even those who attended the movie's test screenings have praised her portrayal in their Twitter and Reddit reactions.
But who is Harley Quinn? In response to such an elementary question by Vanity Fair, Margot Robbie highlights the character's devotion to The Joker and her fighting skills, saying:
She loves causing mayhem and destruction. She's incredibly devoted to the Joker. They have a dysfunctional relationship, but she loves him anyway. She used to be a gymnast"”that's her skill set when fighting.
Of course, those who are familiar with the character won't find any new details in the 26-year-old actress' statement. Harley Quinn was introduced in the 1992 television show Batman: The Animated Series as an Olympic-level gymnast and acrobat.
And this isn't the first time that Margot Robbie has talked about her character's dysfunctional relationship with the Clown Prince of Crime. She did so in a previous interview with LA Times, in which she also talked about how Harley Quinn uses her experience as a psychiatrist to manipulate others and mess with them.
With Suicide Squad being one month away from hitting the theaters, Warner Bros has released a new poster to kick off the countdown. The poster offers a new look at Robbie's Harley Quinn. You can check it out below!
