Eisenberg's Lex Luthor has a Tragic Backstory!

In the interview, Eisenberg claimed that his character has "˜a core of reality'. He went on to say:
"[Luthor] has a back story that’s tragic and an emotional inner life that’s authentic."
Eisenberg further added:
"It was my interest in playing the character with a real emotional core, and this writer, Chris Terrio’s interest in creating a character that seemed viable in reality."
Eisenberg doesn't think "˜self-aggrandizing' would be a right word to use for his character in Batman V Superman. According to the actor, calling him by that would be like saying "˜the Titanic was a sailboat'! He explained:
"He is a narcissist of the first order but complicated in that way as well in that he is terribly troubled and competitive and vengeful."
He concluded by saying that his character doesn't see Superman as "˜somebody to destroy'. But he looks at the Son of Krypton as a "˜genuine threat to humanity'.
Eisenberg Approached for a Role Opposite to Lex Luthor!

The same website caught up with the director of the movie Zack Snyder over phone. He revealed to them that he originally approached Jesse Eisenberg for another role in Batman V Superman. When the actor rejected that part, he offered him the "˜cooler' role of Lex Luthor. So, what was that role? Snyder doesn't want to reveal! Here's how he teased:
"Let’s call it a secret, but nevertheless it was the exact opposite of Lex Luthor."
The director also added that the actor "˜embraced' Luthor when he found out who he was and he wasn't immune to the reality of playing the "˜super-scary character'!
