Justice League: Zack Snyder Describes His Characters

After a long wait, the first full Justice League trailer dropped. And, as it has happened before, many fans are torn between fanboying over it and finding reasons to doubt the quality of the entire movie. In regard to the latter, the way previous movies turned out can be cited as a reason. We did enjoy how Zack Snyder managed to blend action and comedy in this new trailer, without seeming forced and with his own epic style.

After the trailer’s release, the director shared a couple of details about each of the characters (via CBM). He said that Justice League would cement Batman as a true superhero, since this would be the moment for him to emerge from seclusion and join with other heroes as they defend the Earth:

He's been a loner for certainly his crime-fighting career, maybe with the exception of Robin. When we meet him in B v S, he's definitely at this low point of isolation. That was always our intention, that Justice League would be this continuation for Batman to evolve into a more complete hero.

The director also said that the flick would play up the differences between the characters. But this doesn't mean that they will fight each other before coming to terms and defeating the bad guys:

They're each such awesome personalities in the movie. You have Jason stomping around as this inked hairy man, just this mythic figure. And you've got Ezra, who's full of life and hilarious and all over the place and amazing "” a really fun, and also poignant, Flash. And Ray's story is in a lot of ways the heart of the movie.

If we look at Watchmen, we can trust Snyder on this promise - each of the characters will be properly fleshed out. Even more interesting, Snyder called Cyborg the heart of the movie. The trailer already revealed that his father was one of the scientists kidnapped by the parademons, and we already know that Cyborg was created with a Mother Box. But how far will his story go?

As far as Wonder Woman is concerned, the director said that her full backstory would be revealed in her solo movie, to be released this year.

And, of course, there’s Superman. Snyder finds it difficult to have a Justice League flick without him. However, according to him, this is where the fun begins - studying what can be done in his absence, who can take his place (if that is possible), and so on.
