Some time ago, rumors suggested that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) wouldn’t show up in Justice League. But more recently, an official cast list implied that the supervillain would still be very much a part of the November 17 release.
A few weeks ago, Warner Bros. presented a Justice League test screening that reportedly didn't include either Eisenberg as Lex Luthor or Tessa Thompson as Iris West, although both characters had earlier been confirmed to appear in the movie. Many believed that it was the transition between directors Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon that caused the two roles to be scrapped.
We don't know about the Barry Allen love interest, but the return of Superman’s nemesis might still be in the cards. This is because the official cast list on the studio's UK website still includes Eisenberg, along with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J.K. Simons. Here's a screenshot!
Of course, it's possible that the website hasn’t updated the cast list since the Justice League final cut. Maybe when it is updated – if that needs to be done – Eisenberg's name will be removed. But there's always room for additional editing after a test screening, so it's possible that we’ll actually see Lex Luthor in the movie. At the moment, we can't be sure about either.
We haven't seen the supervillain in any of the trailers released so far, so one might assume that he wouldn't be a major player even if he did show up in the movie. Then again, we haven't seen Cavill in his Superman suit, either (he showed up in the latest trailer in what appears to be a dream sequence). But we can't say that he wouldn't be of any help to the other superheroes when they fight Steppenwolf and his invading army of Parademons.
