In November 2016, a rumor appeared out of nowhere that said that Monty Python’s John Cleese had agreed to star in a DCEU flick. The rumor was rather anemic, so to speak, since it was based just on the fact that Clay Enos had followed the actor on Twitter (sure, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Twitter account did the same). And, after the rumor appeared, nothing else really happened…
…until today, when John Cleese tweeted yet another tease about his involvement in the DCEU. The actor posted a pic of himself preparing for an onstage Q&A session. And, most interestingly, he had a few books on his table. And, as many eagle-eyed fans noticed, these were DC Comics.
Check it out below!

There are three books on the table: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League: Origin, and Batman Noir: The Black Mirror. Is John Cleese playing with us? Or is he really telling the world that he will indeed appear in a future DCEU movie?
It would be interesting, wouldn't it? The comedian has appeared in quite a few movies so far, and the DC Extended Universe could certainly use his skills, especially since plenty of people say that these movies are no fun at all.
So, John Cleese is reading The Dark Knight Returns. This comic book has provided inspiration for Zack Snyder (when directing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice); Ben Affleck (when becoming the Caped Crusader); Justice League: Origin (which chronicles the origin of the New 52 Justice League - is this a hint?); and Batman Noir: The Black Mirror (called “the definitive Batman comic for the 21st Century by IGN“).

What do you think? What can we make of this? We are certain that John Cleese has already signed. The role he’ll play, however, is anybody's guess.
