Earlier this year, we learned that Warner Bros. had appointed David S. Goyer to work with Justin Rhodes to pen the script for Green Lantern Corps, as well as to serve as a producer. But if a new rumor is accurate, Goyer could eventually end up calling the shots too.
Seasoned film reporter Jeff Sneider dropped the rumor during this week's episode of Meet The Movie Press (via Heroic Hollywood):
I'm hearing David Goyer could very well wind up directing Green Lantern Corps himself"¦David Goyer is responsible for this entire DC Universe; he wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. He wrote Man of Steel; he is the architect, if you will. He is writing and producing Green Lantern Corps, so it's just very well, what I have heard, one of those situations where he could be like, "Listen, I think I may be the best guy for the job, nobody knows this like I do."

Obviously, the correspondent hasn’t suggested that a deal is on the table. The rumor might be as "premature" as those regarding writer/producer Simon Kinberg taking the helm of X-Men 7. But while Kinberg has yet to make his directorial debut, Goyer has already directed Zig Zag, Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, and The Unborn.
However, it must also be noted that each of those movies was panned by the critics. The DC Extended Universe is also currently suffering the critics’ wrath, so it could be difficult to persuade Warner Bros. that Goyer is "the best guy" to direct Green Lantern Corps.
But since the movie is one of those installments that the studio is considering to shoot in 2017, we might come across an official announcement sometime in the next couple of months.
