No, Chris Pratt Isn’t Playing Batman In The DC Universe

Chris Pratt may well reunite with director James Gunn, but he’s not going to play Batman. Gunn, who worked with Pratt on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, is now fully committed to the DC Universe. Not only did Gunn direct Superman, but he’s the co-head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran. Despite some internet chatter suggesting that Pratt may be suiting up as the Caped Crusader in the coming years, Gunn has poured some cold water on the situation.

In a recent interview with PelucheEn ElEstuche, Gunn was asked directly about the prospect of Pratt joining the new DC Universe as Batman. The character is expected to make his debut in The Brave and the Bold, which is currently set to be directed by Andy Muschietti. Gunn had this to say about it.

“As Batman, no. As something, yes…Chris Pratt’s one of my best friends. We talk all the time. He’s a great guy, and he would love to do something at DC. I would for him to do something at DC.”

Gunn has a tendency to work with many of the same actors again and again over the years. Pratt played Star-Lord in all three Guardians of the Galaxy movies, which helped turn him into an A-list star. Pratt is expected to return as Star-Lord again in the MCU. Though Guardians of the Galaxy 4, if it happens, will feature a new team

Right now, all eyes are on who will play the DCU’s new Batman. Robert Pattinson is set to return as the Caped Crusader in The Batman Part II, which begins filming early next year. It’s been made clear that Pattinson won’t be brought over to the new DCU alongside David Corenswet’s Superman.

“As everyone knows, the Batman featured in The Brave and the Bold will belong to the new DC universe,” Muschitti previously said about the possibility of Pattinson’s Batman joining the DCU. “It’s quite obvious that Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of this new universe.”

As for who else Pratt could play in the DCU? The door is wide open. There are tons of projects in development, including a new Wonder Woman movie, a live-action Teen Titans, Swamp Thing and a mystery movie that Gunn is currently working on, among others. There are also TV shows such as Booster Gold and Waller in various stages of development.

The Batman Part II is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
