The greatest hero in the universe- Thor has been through a lot of changes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These difference have been seen in his comic book character as well as the movies. These changes are strikingly interesting and make him look like two different entities. The character in the comics is nowhere near as fun and lighthearted as the MCU character and his relationship with others is also massively different.
#5 Thor Is Very Serious In The Comics
Witnessing Thor’s character in the movies is a lot different than what you see in the comics. In the movies Thor can be goofy and jolly. He has his share of moments of having fun. He plays video games, drinks and acts like a fool at times. But in the comics, he is the complete opposite. Thor is very serious. He doesn’t goof around nor does he add a sense of humor to the character. He drinks but doesn’t fool around, acts overly serious and has no time for games.
#4 Thor Talks In Shakespearean Speech In The Comics
When the first Thor movie released, the God of Thunder spoke in an ancient dialect. With time, he turned to regular slang and so, Thor talked in a very normal language. But in Marvel comics, Thor uses words like “thous” or “have at thee” thus indicating a very Shakespearean speech.
#3 There Has Been More Than One Thor In The Comics
There have been more than one Thors in the comics but there is only one in the movies, until now. The new Thor movie is said to release a second Thor. This second Thor is Jane Foster, who became Thor in the comics after the original was no longer worthy to wield Mjolnir. Having said that, this might be one thing that could be common in the comics and movies.
#2 Thor Was Powerless Without Mjolnir
This disadvantage was not seen in the movies. Thor was deemed to be powerless without his Mjolnir in the comics. His Thor power and secret identity of Donald Blake was tied to Mjolnir in order to allow them to change places. Thus, he had to have access to this hammer at all times. If he didn’t have it, he would switch back to Donald Blake after sometime. But this was not the case in the movies.
#1 Thor Is More Powerful In The Comics
Even if Thor was tied to the hammer in the comics, he was still very much powerful. Much more than he ever will be in the movies. In the Thor movies, he needed to pull into himself to retrieve the power Odin hinted he had in order to match up to Hulk. Thor is acclaimed as one of the most powerful heroes in the universe in the comics.
