Venom: The Last Dance Trailer Reveals A Big New Marvel Villain

Venom: The Last Dance - Sony Pictures

All good things must come to an end. That’s the case with the Venom trilogy as well. Sony Pictures has released a brand new trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, aka Venom 3. This will be Tom Hardy’s last ride as Eddie Brock, as the title implies. But he’ll be going out with a bang. Not only is this trailer packed with crazy action, but it reveals a surprise, major villain from the Marvel universe. Get ready for the arrival of Knull. Check it out.

This gives us a lot more to go on than the first teaser for The Last Dance. We get a better sense of the story, with Knull, the creator of the Symbiotes, figuring out that Venom is on Earth. This leads to a full alien invasion that Eddie and Venom must contend with. We only get a brief glimpse at Knull in the flesh, but it looks pretty faithful to the comics. Whether he’s the main villain in the film, or being teed up for a larger role later on in Sony’s Marvel universe, remains to be seen.

Here is the synopsis for Venom: The Last Dance.

“In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”

Knull was created by writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman. He first appeared in Thor: God of Thunder #6 in March 2013, before being fully revealed in 2018’s Venom #3. He is known as the God of the Symbiotes and is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe. He is most notable as the threat of the Marvel Comics event series King in Black

The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Rhys Ifans (The King’s Man), Peggy Lu (Venom), Alanna Ubach (Ted) and Stephen Graham (Venom: Let There Be Carnage). The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote, working from a story she cooked up with Hardy/ The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker. Joe Caracciolo Jr. is on board as the executive producer.

Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25.
